Inner Gypsy – Local Global

February 12, 2018 @ 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm
$10.00

Your friendly neighborhood fusion of rock, pop, blues, jazz and worldbeat music with a gypsy soul.

Inner Gypsy weaves together fiery Flamenco style riffs, beautiful love ballads and virtuosic Indian style playing on electric and acoustic guitar, flute. bass, keyboards, and drums.

The band is the love-child of a guitar player and a flute player, who found each other in New York City, and who are linked as much by their love of every kind of music, as their love for each other’s ideas and world-view. After ten years of performing in the NY/NJ area as an acoustic duo, they have now put together a full five-piece band which is as diverse and international as any “band of gypsies” could be.

Tiffany Sen — Flute and Vocals:
Tiffany hails from a small upstate NY town called St. Johnsville, where she studied classical flute. She went on to college in Asheville, North Carolina to study music theory, including a course with world-renowned synthesizer inventor and guru, Robert Moog. She has since traveled the world, and worked in the such diverse situations as the fashion industry, luxury products, and the non-profits arts community. But her heart lies here, in the music of Inner Gypsy

Mario Vickram Sen — Guitars and Vocals:
Mario was born in New Delhi, India. He first performed for the public at the age of five, playing the ukulele in a band called “The Singing Sens,” with his father and his older brother. In the ‘60s his family moved to London, where he quickly began to excel as a blues and rock guitarist, and was in demand on the local scene. He moved to New York in 1973 and has performed with a wide variety of bands and played everything from Blues, Jazz-Fusion, Reggae music, Afro-pop, and Funk to a stint with “Twist King” Chubby Checker. But Mario is happiest performing his own music in Inner Gypsy– his favorite band.

Tony Ventura — Bass:
Tony comes from Hell’s Kitchen right here in Manhattan, where he studied
music at City College with legendary bassist Ron Carter. He is a skilled and fluent reader of music, and plays many styles including Rock, Funk, Jazz and Latin. You may have seen him perform on or off Broadway in such shows as Rent, Little Shop of Horrors, Tony and Tina’s Wedding, Godspell, and many more. And if you are a Sopranos fan, and remember the episode where Nancy Sinatra sings… you may well recognize Tony as the bassist standing beside her. But he has the most fun when he is the bedrock upon which Inner Gypsy grooves.

Adam Truszkowski — Keyboards:
Adam grew up in Poland. He studied piano as a child, and later became interested in American and British music. He has a brilliant grasp of Jazz- Fusion and Prog-Rock and has gravitated towards electronic keyboards and synthesizers. His influences were such artists as Keith Emerson, Bob James, Carlos Santana, Larry Carlton and Robben Ford. He brings an interesting variety of colors to Inner Gypsy’s music.

Mark Papazian — Drums:
Mark is the newest member of the band. He is the consumate professional, on call for many Broadway and off broadway shows, including Tony and Tina’s Wedding. His style of playing incorporates Jazz, Blues, Rock, Latin and World Music. This will be his first outing with Inner Gypsy.
